Safety programs built for the way your crew actually works

Thunderbird Safety Consulting sets up occupational health and safety programs for small and medium employers in British Columbia, and stays on for ongoing support when you need it. Our packages are for forestry, construction, remote and coastal operations, and Indigenous-community employers.

Why It Matters

Why a written safety program is worth having.

Your crew may have the skills and the equipment for the job, but most prime contractors now ask for a written safety program before they will consider a bid.

  • Prequalification and Site Access

You may show your manual to the people who check it: prime contractors or owners reviewing you for prequalification or site access, COR or SAFE Companies auditors, and WorkSafeBC officers.

The intake questionnaire asks whether your clients or prime contractors require certification or prequalification documents, so the package fits the work you bid on.

  • Your Premium Rate

Good safety records can lower your rate.

WorkSafeBC sets your rate. Read how WorkSafeBC calculates COR incentive payments (checked September 2026).

  • A Manual Written for Your Work

We customize your manual to your operation and your worksites, including remote and coastal sites.

It comes with the core forms your crew fills in: hazard assessments, toolbox talk records, incident reports, inspection checklists and orientation records.

How It Works

Four steps from first call to a running program.

  1. Intake Questionnaire

The questionnaire takes about ten minutes. It asks what you do and how many workers you have, what safety paperwork exists today, what software you already run, and whether your clients or prime contractors require certification. If you do not know an answer, leave it blank.

  2. We Recommend a Package

We review your answers and come back with a recommended package and a fixed-price quote. There is no obligation.

  3. Setup

We set up the manual, the forms and the implementation guide in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or SiteDocs if you already use one. If you have nothing yet, we start on paper and PDF forms, and you can move to software later without redoing the program.

  4. Ongoing Support

After setup, we offer an annual program review, training matrix oversight, dashboard and report upkeep, and advisory help. Each is in addition to the manual licence.

The questionnaire is the first step, and it takes about ten minutes.

Straight Talk

What you can hold us to.

You Know the Package Price Before the Work Starts.

We quote package work at a fixed price after the intake questionnaire. There is no hourly meter on package work.

You Run the Program, and Every Record You Create Stays Yours.

The manual is licensed to your company for your own worksites. Your company-specific content and every record you generate with the forms belong to you. If the licence ever ends, your records stay with you.

A Manual Supports Compliance; It Does Not Guarantee It.

A manual on a shelf protects no one. Your company runs the program day to day: holding the meetings, doing the inspections, completing the training and keeping the records. We build the program with that work in mind.

After a Serious Incident, Contact Us Before You Respond.

The same applies when WorkSafeBC contacts you. We will walk you through reporting, the investigation and what an officer will want to see. For a medical or life-threatening emergency, call 911 first.

Where to Start

Start by requesting the intake questionnaire. If you already have a safety program, say so on the questionnaire. The safety program wellness check in the Certification-Ready package measures it against COR or SAFE Companies.
